WOMEN OF ST. LUKE'S

OFFICERS:

Teresa Wankel, President

Judy Brooten, Secretary

Diane Wikander, Treasurer

You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Women of St. Luke’s are extremely active at St. Luke’s and in the surrounding community.  Our women are participants in a variety of committees and church leadership roles including: the Altar Guild, Ushers, Greeters, Acolytes, Lay Readers, Vestry members and Christian Education facilitators.  We are members of the Choir, and the Fellowship, Outreach, Education and Memorial Garden committees.  Many women volunteer at the local Food Pantry and are very involved at Feed Fannin and with Toys for Tots.

Each year, the Women of St. Luke’s plan and participate in fund raising events including our annual Christmas Bazaar in December.  Proceeds enable us to provide support to local community organizations such as:

Fannin County Family Connection, Feed Fannin, Good Samaritan Fund, Her Hope Pregnancy Center, Immanuel Church in Ellijay, Safe Choice Pregnancy Center in Ellijay, Snack-in-a-Backpack, Sunny D Children’s Theater Camp and Women’s Enrichment Center in Blairsville.

We host Fall and Winter Bible studies each year, which are open to all women. Studies are facilitated by our members and encourage discussion and sharing through the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

The Women of St. Luke’s meet every other month on the second Wednesday.  Meetings are held at 9:30 in Thomason Hall located in the lower level of the church.  It’s the perfect time to catch up on upcoming events.  Our meetings always bring forth some great ideas and an awareness of the skills and talents women have to offer to the church and community at large.

We invite all women to join this active and vibrant group in our mission to serve Christ, our Church, and our community.
